Internal Time

I know I’m always going on about time feel here at the site, but what can I say? I think it’s pretty damn important. Check out Richard Bona, he’s a really cool bass player here in New York that does some pretty unique stuff (sings while he plays, etc.) Check out this great video interview with him, yes for the interview, but even more so for the moments where he starts to “sing” the groove. This is the kind of “internal” time-feel I’m always talking about. Have you ever gone around singing a drum part? Try it sometime, it can be a great way to access (and develop) that clock inside you that controls the almighty groove. Thoughts?
